Show next month - Trim under chin, yes or no?

Dartmoor pony has her first in-hand outing in a M&M class in a months time. Obviously she is currently and still will be very fluffy by then. Now... I have trimmed her ears slightly and feathered her tail as it was on the ground (as allowed per rules!) but other than that I cannot decide if I should trim the hair under her chin/jowel to show off the shape of her head? It would look a bit weird given she has loads of neck fluff but I don't want to be the only scruffy one if others do this! And mane, is this supposed to be totally natural (as in long and coming to a point) or in reality are we supposed to shorten it a little?

Only M&M's I've ever shown have been Welsh Cobs so I know quite a bit of quiet trimming is expected with them.
 
I think with Dartmoors you can trim under the chin but best check with breed society rules.
I know with highlands and dales it is against the rules and heavily penalised.
 
I think it's being phased out due to banning in other countries for being cruel.

I totally agree with it.
 
Ok thanks everyone, will give her beard a bit of a trim but nothing too drastic so it looks vaguely "natural".

tallyho! - nope not whiskers dont worry, I never cut those off any of mine (including non-M&M;s) ;)

Rules for Trimming

Long hairs under the jaw and those protruding from the ears may be trimmed.
Whiskers must not be trimmed.
The tail may be trimmed at the bottom if excessively long.
No dye or make-up may be used and no false tails or forelocks. Hooves may be oiled.
Ridden/Driven ponies may be clipped in the interest of welfare, but not their legs.
False quarter marks are not allowed.

Not all M&Ms can be trimmed! If you have a native and wish to show it please do check on the trimming rules ;-)
