Show Ponies SKy 1 now

The handbag full of grass was just brilliant! I am slightly concerned that I will now have to dye my liver chestnut show pony to make her more acceptably stepford bay :D

I hate the whole show pony scene it is beyond ridiculous and borderline cruel imo. Fat ponies, obese some of them, going horribly with false outline, hairspray and makeup on the pony and the poor kids never really look to be enjoying themselves. Stale ponies dumping kids, they would probably all enjoy pony club or having fun hacks so much more having fun and letting horses be horses and getting rid of the stress for the children.

As an ex wh groom who has been a regular as bsps summer champs I would say that showed it seriously toned down!

Three Counties Show, for those of you who know the layout, I had come in through brown gate and parked in the day box fields to the left of the smaller rings and the showjumping.

We return to our box terribly excited after our hunter class triumph, in the smaller rings are the lead rein/first ridden and show pony classes. Hundreds of them and of course in the lead rein the yummy mummies in their lovely outfits, feathers, long skirts and all that jazz. The collecting ring to these pony rings is directly opposite the lorry park gate.

There are five of us with a combined equine knowledge of 200 years plus and one horse with excellent manners and many miles on the clock, so how we managed to lose him during the double bridle off headcollar on remains a mystery. Maybe the chatter about food, wine and what a star horse we had made us a bit slack ! Anyway, he went walk about - well make that clear off at speed, all 17.2h, 750kgs of him. Straight out of the lorry park gate, over the road and into the lead rein pony collecting ring. There were screams from dozens of mums, kids on the deck, ponies with tails in the air, carnage really !

We ran after him and when I saw where is was, I delegated someone else to retrieve him (I own him), I was so embarrassed I hid in the hedge ! My friends also decided they wanted nothing to do with the situation. Whilst we were all f ing and blinding in the hedge, a chap rugby tackled the horse round his neck. The only thing the horse was wearing was baby oil and quarter marks. Needless to say I, as the owner, was made to go and collect the horse and grovel to the witches of eastwick that had formed a protest group.

I have never been so embarrassed in my life.

That's an excellent story AAlice. You should start a thread 'most embarrassing moments of your life'! Looking forward to seeing the show ponies programme with my sister at the weekend. Have to confess though that watching my niece, Daisy, and pony, Pie, being presented with a championship sash at an evening performance and cantering around to 'Simply the Best' rates as one of the best moments in my life. Very, very sad - but true!

Its Bridget Garner, and a lot of you will know Daddy, (he was the one in glasses and a hat) That is the miracle worker Seb Garner who provides the horse ambulances that are at most of the shows/events/race meetings. Is a very proud daddy.
