Hi im looking into purchasing a show pony colt foal but having not ventured into this breed before any info appreciated!

Does anyone have any pics of the 'ideal' show pony conformation wise?

Also what do you all feed yours? any inside secrets and tips ;)

I dont think there are many showing people on here.
I used to have a few show ponies but not for years, more M&Ms now so not much help.
Horse gossip is very showing orientated so maybe try on there.

I have a show hunter pony....young and just started out

and our very elderly show pony, a Rotherwood mare. Went to HOYS 16 years ago. Not the best pic, but typical showpony conformation...length of rein, good shoulder and clean legged (pic aged 24)

The chestnut is an out and out hunter pony though. She has more depth and much bigger front and action than a show pony. A show pony should have again good length of rein, less bone than a hunter pony and more of a daisy cutting action. A small refined head, large eye...tapered forehead( think seahorse).

Look at the overall impression of the foal...and watch it move, that's the improtant bit. They shouldn't shuffle, but 'skip' along.

Hope that helps a bit

What size show pony (when he's adult height) are you after?

Welsh sec B's often do very well in the show ring. I've also known alot of Welsh B x Arab or even some TB blood.

This pony looks like it has alot of TB blood (pic stolen from google ;) )
