Hi all! I have a yearling I did a couple of in hand shows with this year. I hope to fully get into it next year! So my question is, now and over winter what kind of things do you do/prepare for next year? Grooming wise or just general preparation? I'm not sure there is anything to do until March/April time but as its all new to me I wondered what the die hard showing people do.

Thank you!

You need to teach him to trot up without you having to pull, good grooming and general learning about loading, tidying up and manners.
As a 2 year old if you want to seriously have a go then you need to take a good look at him a day or 2 before the show and ask is he looking good or is he going through a gangly stage. If the latter then I wouldn't bother taking him, you are already up against the 3yr olds so taking a pony out that is going through an ugly duckling stage just results in a frustrating day all round

Yes that is true! Def need to see what she's like next year. The two shows I took her to already, she loaded like a star, behaved impeccably and walked, trotted and stood beautifully. But will of course get her used to it before show time again ☺️ She came second at her first show then won the second. They were open classes. Some classes next year will be 2yo class so a bit equaler.
