Right so transport is booked for South Staffs on April 25th, just need to get turnout etc sorted now.

Lucky is welsh section d x connemara (we think), on pics of her with her owner at shows she hasn't been plaited. She has a long mane to.

Do I plait or leave natural?

Here is a pic for those that don't know her:

And ridden showing wise - would a hunter style bridle be ok? Shes currently ridden in a hanging cheek snaffle - can I keep her in this for the shows

And for me - I've only ever done inhand showing. I was going to wear my brown tweed jacket, brown tie, brown jod boots and dark trousers - possibly brown, with a cream or white shirt.

Ridden wise - I only have long black boots or short boots , would I get away with them or is it best to get brown long boots. (I was under the impression only under 16s rode in joddy boots)

First of all it depends on what classes you are planning on doing with her.

I would leave natural although the mane does need some attention and trimming.

In hand clothing and ridden sounds fine. I would go with the cream shirt not white for the ridden matching jods/breeches. Wear black long boots not brown.

If its a small local show bridle and bit sound fine.

Start washing her tail in preparation well in advance maybe once a week and make sure her coat is in tip top condition.

Most of all Good luck!

As hellspells says
Black long boots are correct. Your tack sounds fine too. I would go with the cream shirt as well.
With regard to plaiting - most showing classes are expected to be plaited eg show hiunter, show pony , riding horse, working hunter.
Non plaiteds are normally shown in their registered native breeds class. As a welsh x connemara Lucky would ot be able to do these classes ( unless they have a part bred or unregistered class)
If your classes are turnout or condition you can be plaited or not.

Whatever you decide to do enjoy it !!!!!!!!

That sounds good - I know from having grey's how difficult it is. I would invest in a tail bag for the night before the show.

Coat wise no I wouldn't bath her at this time of year unless you have hot water, but make sure she is always groomed well and her coat is 'glowing' its small things like that that catch judges eyes.

If you are doing part bred m&m then i would leave her mane but if your doing any other showing then I would plait. As said above I think cream would look best and your long boots and tack sound fine

Any breed 4 years and over

Best coloured/spotted/palamino/cremello/dun

Poss a couple of others

Shes on loan and I don't think her owner would let me pull her mane as its taken her 5 years to get it to that length!! When she showed her I think she showed her a full section d as on the pics she is natural with a single plait behind the ear
