Weeeell. It could have gone worse, I'll give it that lol.
I did have a brilliant day out however.
My poor prep for this did come round and bite me in the arse
Stupid me, copied down my test wrong late last night and missed part of it out, so I missed trotting large after the change of the rein, and just went straight into the circle
Only lost one point for error though and the judge was lovely about it. I was mortified as I've never gotten a test wrong in my life until today lol.
But, she did a lovely test and was foot perfect almost other than that, and we somehow came 5th overall, even with our mistake! So was very happy with that and was a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting anything due to our cock-up!
I entered the last jumping class also. I've not jumped a course in over a year, and even then, that's on my other horse who is a guaranteed 'faults round' where poles are concerned, so again, never 'proper' jumping where I actually go in hopeful for a good clear round lol. Equally, only had my mare back home with for less than a fortnight now, not been able to ride her hardly this week and only popped her over a couple of small jumps once last week! Oh, and I've not ridden her in over 3/4 years lol....but apart from that!
Anyway. Warmed her up briefly, and aimed her at the warm-up fence.....And lord knows why I did it, but I rode her to it like my laid back TB lad. And she's the typical little speedy, 5th leg, point aim attack showjumping type pony.... so well, we went to gallop in 0-60 out of the corner! She cleared it for sure....with an apologetic 'Woops sorry!' on my behalf lol. After that...I definitely toned it down and she was back to how she should go lol.
Got a clear in the first round on her, so got put through to the jump off.
But....messed up in the jump off
I got lost. Somehow. I honestly don't know how!!! She was jumping out of her skin, and I fluffed it up big style. I came out of the double and just had a complete blonde moment and my mind went blank! Rearranged my thoughts [cursing myself for being a stupid idiot!] and just put the gas down to the next fence to try and make up time...she soared the next one! Bless her. Then I fluffed it up again....I went to turn her sharply on landing to try and save on time....which again, expecting her to be like my other horse [ie, not great at jump off turns!], overrode her and she just simply did as I told her to, which was flying change and absolutely spin the other way just after landing...which I wasn't expecting, lost my stirrups and pitched forwards, though she caught me with her neck/shoulder so I didn't come off bless her [she's good at 'catching' riders!] so I just carried on and did the next turn, but I didn't give her enough leg on the final one off the corner and we rolled the rail last minute
BUT. She was an absolute babe to keep going and keeping me on board at the same time with all the mistakes I made on her!
AND, even with the faults from the rail down, we still got placed 5th overall! Another surprise lol.
I was still thrilled with our round, as she'd done nothing wrong at all, it was all rider error. I was out of practise and just hadn't had the time to get used to her again properly I guess! Going to have a couple of jumping sessions and then got another show a week Monday which we'll give jumping another bash at
She's the nicest mare to take round a course, she's as bold as brass, not spooky at all and just loves it. She'll jump anything and just fills you with confidence. I'm completely smitten back with her. Much love for her x <3
Oh, and my bosses youngest daughter came with Hairy too [They had 2 clear rounds also!!! Bless him. Her first time showjumping out after battling with confidence!].
Anyway....they had a chase me Charlie going on just after my jumping class finished, so I offered her the ride on Cass in it if she wanted instead of me. So she went for it! She's not rode her for 4 years either [and the last and only time she tried jumping her....she got jumped clean off lol! Bless her XD ] and Cass is completely different to the cobs to ride obviously....but she did so well! She came joint 3rd, but it ended up about 1m30 I'd guess? She ended up knocking it a couple before that I think. She was thinking of bowing out at the one she knocked down anyway, so finished where she meant to, but props to her for giving it a go!
Anyway. That's our day
Lovely day, lovely show....and stopped at the pub with the horses on the ride back home also!
Happy!
