Showing a partbred newforest youngster

I'll be interested to hear the answers to this, as I would like to show a fjord x NF (looks like a NF, but has the amazing colouring of a fjord)

I have a NF partbred ( he's a quarter cob) and he was shown as a youngster in hunter pony, competition pony and partbred classes. Also if he is a registered NF partbred he can be shown at the breed show in August. Turnout would be plaited, pulled and trimmed. If your pony is also spotted you could do coloured classes if they include appaloosas or general young stock classes.

If your youngster is by a registered Appaloosa stallion (ie Tiptoe Little Joe) you can register your babe as a part-bred appaloosa and enter classes for part-breds - there are several shows at Cadnam (see NFED) and the New Forest Show has a part-bred appaloosa class.
Further afield there is a show for Appaloosas at Hartpury on the 5th July, up North on the 16th July (Myerscough College) and the ApHC UK National Show at the Warwickshire Ag College, Moreton Morrell 16-17 August. When your youngster grows up and you are riding there are equally as many ridden classes as in-hand, you could also try western!
Have a look at the ApHC UK website - www.aphcuk.org.
With registered appaloosas the choice is yours as to whether you plait (for English) or braid (for Western), and attire is as everyone else (English) and western halter (American) and western gear for the handler. Let me know if you need any more pointers.
