Showing a Welsh D yearling colt. White halter or bridle?

As the title says really.

I have taken my 15month colt to one show so far, one of the welsh shows, and was suprised when the judge said that I should show him in a inhand bridle.

He is well mannered so don't need the bridle for control. I have bitted him but not put any pressure on his mouth at all at the moment, he likes having something in his gob tho! lol.

Any thoughts or advice please?

I think , being a colt, it is more correct to wear a bridle. Whether or not you want to bit him at such a young age is up to you - I guess as a compromise you could use an in-hand bridle but attach the rein to the noseband to save his mouth? x

Thanks N. Thats what I thought, don't really want to be putting any pressure on his mouth so early :( he has had a very soft straight bar in a few times and loves it but in his eyes it's just something for him to play with.

NP- that's what I was always thought which was why I was suprised the judge told me otherwise!

Thanks for your comments guys. Im not into showing but want to get the fella out once or twice more this year to see the sights :)
