I am just interested as I have a 2yo I want to do some in hand with, followed by ridden when she is backed. What are the judges looking for nowadays?

She has 3 white socks, high knee action, a white stripe, chestnut, flaxen mane and tail with a straight profile head. But I also notice a lot have the slightly dished/pony head. I am assuming this is what people prefer? What are the thoughts on knee action for the welshies? I have seen pictures of my mare's half-brother who is the spitting image showing, but I wouldn't have had her down as suitable for me to take showing seriously for her? She was purchased for general purpose so if you say she's totally rubbish for showing, no offence taken :)

Different judges have different likes and dislikes!! The only way you will find out is to give it a bash. I always take my youngsters out inhand, they learn so much. I even to Alf who is not and never will be a show horse!!

At local level you should do quite well with your pony. You may find the welsh medal and other affiliated welsh shows a bit of a shock though and the D's do tend to carry a hell of alot more "condition" at these shows, but if you get the chance do go along a watch and make your own mind up. Good luck.
