I am looking into showing my youngster in hand this season. He is a 2 year old KWPN warmblood.

I am new to all this showing business and will only be going at local level to start with but want to do it properly , so just looking for a few tips

In a youngstock class should he wear a plain browband or a fancy velvet one (if the 2nd of the two is "bling" acceptable, I've seen some beautiful ones online, also what colours do you think would suit)

Also is it the norm to put a youngster in other classes, eg sports horse, or Pure breed or is that likely to be all older horses?

Here he is, if type makes a difference to what he should wear (The scar on his face has covered over and he has put a little weight on since the photo)

Thanks in advance for any help, any other comments, tips etc are very welcome

We took my friends 2 year old out showing a couple of weeks ago and he was turned out like this ( I wasn't actually showing him just holding him at that minute)

He wasn't in a youngster class- just non traditional coloured against some very grown up horses. He came 4th, and the winner was a coloured yearling so I'd have no qualms of putting him in non specific youngster classes :)

You would turn him out as his type, so guessing a riding horse/hack? Which needs a coloured browband. Yeah put him in other classes too, lots of judges seem to prefer the younger ones!
Very very very handsome, good luck!
