Having bred and shown RIDs for the last few years I've bought myself a piebald heavyweight piebald filly who will be a year old in May. She is traditional and should make 15.2hh with lots of mane and feather. I'm a little confused as to which society to register her with for showing as I'd like to enter agricultural and possibly county shows this year as her conformation and movement are good. How do the benefits of CHAPS and BSPA differ as I can't afford to join both. My filly has a standard horse utility passport so I'd have to get her markings completed and overstamped.
When showing what is the correct bridle/halterwear for a tradition? I have my green tweed jacket etc so should imagine I'll be ok.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Hi,
im no expert but ive been showing my coloured trad for the last ten years. if I were you id join chaps as they seem to run more specific classes and the national show is great fun. She should be shown in a leather in hand bridle without a bit ideally but if shes huge and strong as these guys can be then id probably be tempted to bit her. She should be shown in a natural state but ive always trimmed my boys beard so you can see his head properly. Tweed jacket is fine with trousers the opposite colour to her legs so if she has white legs then dark coloured trousers and finally where are the photos!!!!!!!!:D

yes, clean is definately a must, id recommend vanish soap, I found it to be fantastic at cleaning feathers and also a kids nit comb to comb them clean, gets every speck of dust out : ) and seriously where are the pictures!:D:D
