Hi. I'm looking to take my youngster out to a local show in a couple of weeks.
I'm going to enter her in the ridden sports horse class but I'm not sure how to turn us both out and also what I am expected to show in our individual show.
Im only doing it for her experience as showing isn't really my thing.
Just after some advice so I don't look like a total numpty in the ring!
Thanks in advance :-)

I would turn horse out in plain gear (think hunter class) & tweed jacket, shirt & tie for yourself. For your show (unless otherwise stated by the judge) square up & say good morn/afternoon while judge has a look at your horse. Then walks few paces away, pick up trot, figure of 8, canter figure of 8 showing extension in trot across the diagonal, gallop/extended canter down the long side (plan it so you are at the opposite side of the line up) then canter for the corner, trot straight down the centre back to walk and a nice halt & salute (& smile)

Ps. It's a lot less complicated to ride than it is written down! :)

If you can, plait up your horse, most of them will be plaited for a sports horse class and it'll make sure you look like you know what you're doing!
The ridden show that el_Snowflakes says is a good basic one that judges seem to prefer, they may even tell you to do that same show!
Good luck, make sure you enjoy it, that's the most important part :)
