You sound fab, tie pin yes, scrunchie if your bun is big enough to take it without it being "too much", no button hole, (only with navy jacket on a showpony)
Him, quarter marks on both sides, leave the white patch unless it is an old scar, hoof oil, personal preference.
Good luck, and smile

I don't know if it's a scar or not- i've been poking and prodding it since i had him and there doesn't seem to be any lumps or bumps in the tissue...? he has been pin fired though so i wouldn't be supprised if it is a scar from an injury pre firing...?

will be too busy trying not to throw up down side of horse to smile- apparently you get maked down for this????? he he.
xx

Sounds all good, if the white patch is just white hairs id be tempted to colour it in with a permenant marker, i always did it with mine that had a funny white patch on his black legs!

If you can do without, taking the flash strap off his noseband, its more traditional, besides on working hunters that are allowed them! If you can sew your plaits in, looks much better, and judges prefer it. Don't forget to polish the insides of the hooves and chestnuts too! And make sure both sides of your tack are clean.

Most of all smile, and try and look as if you are enjoying yourself

Unless you are under 16 then lose the scrunchie and definitely no buttonhole.
Both sides for quarter marks
Hair in bun
Black hoof oil
Don't get hung up about number of plaits
Take some black elastic or black plaiting thread instead of using number string - looks much neater.

T & T that I did last weekend stipulated that you needed a button hole or badge.... anyone that didnt have either, regardless of type of jacket etc was marked down

Make sure the mane is plaited on the correct side too

Mine wasnt...... but everything else was good so we won!!!

turn out is dependant on the judge. To be correct, turn out should be as per "type" i.e. hack, cob, riding horse, hunter, M&M etc - and none of them should have button hole. However, you do get all sorts asked to judge T&T classes so each judge will have their own particular foibles.

My son does them quite a lot at local level to get him used to being in the ring on his own (as he is very young and very small!) and he never wears a button hole - and does very well consdiering he does much of the bathing and tack cleaning himself and has a definite lack of attention to detail! However, at one show he was told that he should be wearing a navy jacket, a button hole and a coloured browband (whereas he was correctly turned out on his M&M in a plain bridle, tweed jacket and no button hole). I put it down to experience and will hopefully get him into first ridden classes next year!!!
