Hi people!

I have just built up enough confidence to have a go at some ridden and in hand showing at a local village show. How shall i turn out my arab? Can he be plaited? or is that not traditional for their breed?

Any advice well appreciated!

Thanks

either leave main and tail unplaited or do an arab plait, which is a sort of french plait.
either way dont pull your arabs main or tail. you can tidy it up a bit so it is even and neat.

most important, and this is the best advice EVER dont forget to breath and just have fun!

good luck!

Oh thanks, for your advice! Do you know anywhere online that would have diagrams/instructions on how to do an arab plait??

Im looking forward to it, but yes do need to remeber to breath lol

Arabs are shown with natural mane and tail no plaiting or banding at all
you can put a coloured browband on your arab and you have the choiice of a navy or tweed jacket for yourself but most people choose a tweed.

No plaits for arabs and only minimal trimming. Whiskers left on and a small bridle path.

Lovely and easy, no worrying about plaiting at all.

Have fun.

Hi - as others have said absolutely no plaiting of any kind on pure bred arabs! Also, no trimming is allowed either - they should be shown in their natural state (same as M&M).... things you can do to make them stand out from the crowd are plaiting their tail after washing (remember to remove before the class) to make their tails curly.... discreet baby oil around the eye and nose area.... loads and loads of show sheen!

Good luck!!
