Also in new lounge... I am thinking of purchasing an unregistered 18 month old welsh sec a gelding. He fits type and is a smashing looking pony but I would like to show him in hand and he is not registered. The breeders details are on the passport but as he came directly from the hills a year ago in a semi rescue case the parents are not listed. What can I do? Assume I cannot register him as I dont know his parents but will I still be able to show for eg at county level unregistered? I really like him but being new to showing natives I do not want to purchase if I will be unable to show at some point at higher than small local show level. Any ideas? Suggestions?

in a word no. You would struggle to even show him as an A at local level as most M&M classes will say "needs to be eligable to be registered with a breed society". There are THOUSANDS of sec a's around so I would keep looking

excately-people are practically giving sec A's away, you can pick up one from our local sales with good breeding, good type etc etc £60

Thanks guys, being new to it all I did think that was the case but wasnt sure. This fella was lovely but £300 ono as well. I am going to have a think as torn between an Exmoor and Sec A - Exmoor has the bonus of me being able to ride when broken also. Whatever I get I will make sure it is regsitered.
Thanks all for your helpful advice:D

Or how about a dartmoor? lovely little ponies and not many about. If your after an exmoor though, pm me and i will give you a number of a friend of mine that breeds them
