Please could someone help me on a little query I have?

For a ex racer class, at county level, what should be worn jacket wise? Would it be navy? and if so would a navy jacket with piping on the collar be okay?

depends on what your horse would be classes as. A hunter/riding horse type will have tweeds and hacks will have blue. Pipeing is not usual in the showring and not seen at county level.
 
Its an open ridden class! Horse in question is a dark bay gelding, rider in question is at the minute clueless as to what to wear.

The show not a prob, the clothing is!!

in exracer classes you turnout to type and exracer isnt a type, she will most likely be a riding horse or hack unless she is very substantialy built but couldnt tell you which without pictures.

A hack wears a navy jacket and the horse has ribboned browband
a riding horse has a tweed jacket and horse has a ribboned browband
 
ex racer isnt a type of show horse, its just a class for show horses that have raced in the past. It just happens to be a horse that has raced. In said class you turn it out how you would if you were to enter a non exracer class at the show.
 
I do see what you're getting at but this is a class for those that would not normaly be shown. Ie those with scars ect.

Okay, HE'S a TB, just a normal TB, bit loopy, etc etc. Not built like anything but a racer.

Can anyone shed any light on this???
 
Ive seen them, normaly national hunt racer but they are out there and even if she isnt a hunter type they you still have to decide between riding horse and show hack!

I know it isnt an open class for every horse in the place, but an ex racer can be a hack, riding horse or hunter type. you turnout to how it would be if it were in the open classes!

And if you dont get that i give up Pm FMM and if she has the patience to explain it to you then you will get the same answer from her! you turn out to type and exracer isnt a type. Its like the home produced classes are not a type they are for horses not produced by a proffesional but they still turn out to the type of horse they have!
 
katy concidering there are exracers competing in the show classes at HOYS, it doesnt matter if they have scars you still turnout to type. and quite a few county show horses have been exracers.
 
A photo would clear matters up instantly. My pony is a mountain and moorland pony but if i were to enter him in an open ridden class or a home produced class he would still be truned out like an M&M.

Id say go for a riding horse turnout with him, but Im more then willing to be corrected by the horsey showing people. How tall is he?
 
for riding horse you need a green or brown twed jacket (i prefer green personaly), cream/canary breeches, long boots, spurs or dummy spurs, brown leather gloves, navy hat either a beagler (which i wouldnt recommend on an ex racer any way as they can have their special moments) or a navy hat with flesh coloured harness. your hair should be in a bun and a hairnet and the horse should have a flat plain noseband and fancy ribbon browband.
 
Tie depends on what you feel like wearing, most people match it to the over check in thier jacket. which normaly means some form of red or blue

you can wear blue tweed but you dont often see it in the county showring and they are concidered to be unproffesional and will most often look out of place.
 
I agree with conniegirl, he's definately a riding horse type rather than a hack type (from the photo).

Ex-racer classes are the same as coloured classes in a way, there will be several different types which are turned out differently (a coloured cob would look silly turned out as a coloured show pony would for example). Even though TBs are more consistent in what they look like, there are different types, for example if the racehorse stallion Loch Pearl http://www.rectory-farm.co.uk/stallions2.htm was to show in this class he's be turned out as a hunter because he's got lots of bone and substance.

Good luck. If you're going to North Hants show it's a really good one to start with, especially if you appreciate lots of space to warm up!

Don't beat up CG - she is absolutely correct! You turn out according to type. And as far as the comment "yet to see a hunter type racer" - my sister's ex racehorse won the LW hunters at HOYS last year. Some can be pretty damn chunky.
