My horse is still out throught injury so ive been riding a veteran arab at the yard.

He doesnt load but we have a local show in 7 weeks time and im going to have a bash a ridden arab and poss ridden veteran class.

The horse is ridden in a plain snaffle bridle but does have a martingale. While i think a doudle is correct at local level i assume a snaffle bridle and a martingale is ok?.

Should i ditch the numnah for a showing class?

For me is it ok to wear beige jods and a blck showjacket with shirt and stock with my ariats and gaiters that i wear for dressage with a black velvet hat to finish.

I dont do showing as my own horse is a nightmare and explodes so im not sure what to expect in a ridden arab/ ridden veteran class

A snaffle will be fine but I would try and ride without the martingale if possible. Either no nummnah or a very small one. and I would wear a tie instead of a stock and a velvet browband.

I can get a cheap velvet brow band but only have a dog coller show shirt so i cant wear a shirt and tie. As i dont do showing and its not my horse i dont want to spend pennies i dont really have.

Do you think i would get away with a dog coller but no tie of should i go with the stock?

You can get a cheap white shirt from Tesco or Asda for a few pounds and it can be used again if you every do any more showing.

Check with the show organiser - a martingale is a big no no and so is either a stock shirt, no stock or a stock. Please check first as you don't want to get there and then not be allowed in the ring!

You can wear a numnah (and I would advise it with a veteran), as long as it matches the colour of the saddle and is a good fit i.e. no saddlecloths, edging or bling

You can practically wear any colour shirt in showing (except white) - do you have a dad, brother, boyfriend who could lend you one for the day?
