Taking 4yo for a couple of in hand showing classes for exposure. He doesn’t really fit anywhere as an overgrown Connie with a pulled mane etc. Class options (want to do 2 of them- all are same ring and judge). Riding horse, sports horse and M&M large breed.

Which would you do and if the M&M is one of them would you just have him plaited, it’s low key and he’s obviously incorrect anyway but don’t want to look like a total numpty!

Pic of type for reference.

I'd also go for riding horse and sport horse. though if there is in inhand hunter class I'd be more inclined to do that rather than riding horse.

As he is over height for a connie and not particularly typey for one either you would look out of place in the class.

I'd still go the M&M class, no plaiting needed, and most Connies are trimmed anyway. They vary quite a lot in style and substance ? good luck x

How big is he? I’d be inclined to try the small hunters with him, especially if he’s no white on him. A lot of judges love that, don’t plait for the m&ms if you do choose that but personally I wouldn’t. A lot of Connie owners (overheight or not) tend to show them as hunter types - I did show hunter pony with mine as she was 14.1hh.

No in hand hunter class and he’s not ready for ridden yet, just want to keep it quick and low key. In and out in an hour or so!

Oh that’s annoying! I’d try both the sports and riding horse. See what the judge says about his type then you’ll have more info for next time about what classes to do.

he’s a lovely chap, very smart!
