Hi everyone I want to enter a Connemara for an open show pony class but I’ve been told Connemaras are better showhunters? Is it still ok for me to enter for the show pony class?
Thankyou

It’s unaffiliated country show but it is quite competitive, you don’t need to qualify, the native breed classes are aged and I’m a small adult on a pony so the only classes I can do on her are the show pony classes and I really wouldn’t want to miss out on this opportunity as this could be our last summer together before having to sell her

That is the opposite of affiliated showing!
The riding ponies and SHPs have age limits and the natives don't.
I'm very surprised a show would do the opposite even if unaffiliated.
Most full Connemaras would fit better into SHP than SP but there are always exceptions to the rule.

Are you outside the UK op?
Asking, as UK SP classes are usually in heights with rider age. A 140cm pony would be in the exceeding 138cms not exceeding 148cms, Riders 16 and under.
A 140cm pony with bone but quality in shp classes would be in the 133 to 143cm class.

Also, in the UK native classes are not restricted in rider age in open or novice in affiliated and not heard of it in unaffiliated, just in junior classes (and LR and 1st ridden, obviously).

Yes I am in the uk I’ve been in contact with the show office about this and they said in the SP class there is no set age to height it’s more about the weight of the rider for the pony however they sent me the rule book for native pony classes and CP classes and they are age restricted leavening only the showing classes available I just don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb in it

I'm sorry, I'm very confused.
Can you share which unaff show office?

As minesadouble says, this is the complete opposite of any usual unaff or affiliated regs 🤔
