Hi Im looking to take my cob ridden showing, she is passported as ‘cream’ coloured though has black spots on her belly, around 140cm. Wondering what classes I can enter her without looking ridiculous next to massive hunter types? I am obviously biased but I find her really pretty once shes clean, different looking - but looks like theres more options for skewbalds for showing! 🙂 some photos from last summer. Her feather has survived this winter alot better than last with some serious bog burn but has more full feather now this year . Is dilute or solid pony classes an option? Or is my only option looking for a general cob class?

You really need a general cob class - lots of local shows have these classes. Once you get to a higher level with cobs you have to get a bit more committed to one look… she is too small for a show cob so you probably would have go down the native type route as she doesn’t have enough hair for a traditional.

She is bog burnt in this picture, this year she has full feather but yes she is too short for 148cm classes x
Show Cobs aren’t measured to 148 they are 15.1 in old money and I think 155cm. The hairy cob showing world is different there are 3 types

Traditional - very hairy — full feathers and spats not a hair to be touched long manes and tails etc

Native type - more like your pony hair like you would see on a native

Vanners - slightly lighter in frame slightly less hair

You would need to go for a cob class cos a showing class tends to be for show ponies which she is not

She is lovely, you could have lots of fun at local riding club level. Coloured classes at that level often include dilutes - if you're not sure, drop the secretary a message. Best combination, riding club type, novice if you're new to ridden showing, equitation, best all-rounder. It really depends on your local shows schedules but in my area you'd have loads of choice.
