I know it's the wrong end of the year but i'm lready thinking about next years showing season!!!

I've lost my nerve jumping but would still like to compete at show's as i have a coloured cob and a coloured pony. a friend of mine who competes very successfully in mountain and moorland with her section d has suggested trying in hand and ridden coloured with my cob and inhand coloured with my pony.

Unfortunatley i've not really been interested in showing before. I've tried watching a few coloured classes this summer but still couldn't get much of an idea!

i was just wondered if any one had any tips on the correct showing of coloured cobs for his type. currently he has his mane hogged but his forelock left due to the flies irratateing him and his legs clipped out due to greasy knee which i have succesfully treated with pig oil. i am planning to let all the hair regrow and let it all hang out. but i'm not sure of what is correct for his type. i really don't want to hog him again or hog his forelock!

I was also wondering what tack was appropriate i have a barnsby black gp which would be ok but i don't know what type of bridle would suit him as i don't like the flat wide nosebands. he is currently ridden in a mullen mouth pelham but if i did i show next year i was planning to use a rugby pelham or double bridle.

For my pony i have an inhand bridle which i'm pretty much ok with and i know what gear i need but would he be ok in a normal in hand coloured class he's 13.1hh and 5 years old!

Does anyone know of any good books or websites on showing coloureds?

Please help!

P.s sorry if this thread is really long!

How light/heavy is he? I think the lighter ones suit show cobs and heavier suit traditonal. Really need a pic! :)
Sorry but you need a wide flat nosebnd. Anything else is a big no no with cob. (i hate fancy nosebands!!)
Pelhem you are using is fine for a cob. Alot of cobs don't suit doubles as they have a small mouth. Two reins pref.

Yup to all of that..

However you may have to be prepared that his mane/feathers will not be back to showing standard by next season.
