Showing colts in hand - advice please

We intend getting our 2 colts out and about this season in Section A/M&M classes but I want Sami to wear a riding hat when she is in the ring for safety's sake. Is it likely to go against her that she is not in what is classed as traditional for the show ring with these type of ponies? The boys are really well behaved but I just don't want to take any risks for the sake of it!

Also, can anyone advise on the etiquette at shows for 2yo colts?

I would definitely wear a hat. I would rather miss out on a rosette than have a hoof land on my head. As you probably know they should be bitted.

I would just keep my wits about me and not get too close to another horse.

thanks for that, yes, her safety is more important than any rosette! We are due to bit them in the next couple of weeks and get them walking out seeing new things.
