or any other good tips please! first show of the year on sunday, going to see how my pre-vet fares before i reg with VHS! and pop round the WHP too.

My quarter marks are not vry practised, which is probably the problem, - how do they make them so neat and clean lined? i dont normally bother for workers but would like to for veterans.

My pony has clear hooves so i use Absorbine hoof shine but it doesnt seem to produce that high a shine. anything else thats good?

Any tips on helping the poo slide off socks?! (cow pony!) i spray with coat shine.

This was us last year doing workers, any tips on how i can step it up? I think im in all correct gear by now?! I might wear a navy jacket and beagler later in year possibly for some of the vet's class. I now have black boots not brown as my brown gaitors got mullered out hunting

I do my quarter marks with a fairly stiff, tight bristled body brush. dunked in a bucket of water.
Hoof oil i use sabeline i think it is called.
White socks, i make a paste of chalk and brush on the night before then bandage.
I think you look very smart in your pic, would it be possible to have a leather girth??
Good luck.

I think you look really smart!

Have you tried vaseline on hooves (just prior to entering the ring)?

WD40 sprayed very lightly on a sponge and very gently wiped over the coat produces an amazing shine!

Also your reins look quite long - can you change them for slightly shorter pairs so they dont clutter the shoulder so much?

I really like the absorbine hoof shine, altho my horse has black feet. Make sure the horn is really healthy - use something like effol every day and ensure that you get the hoof polish off each time, gentle nail varnish works!
Check your veteran rules - don't think you can use a beagler for VHS.
Stiff brush and lots of practice for quarter marks - as he's a hunter type you want flashes on his bum and sharks teeth below. turn him into the sun so you can see each side clearly.

Quarter marks, practice EVERY time you groom and you'll get there!

I use baby oil and water and set with hair spray, however have also been shown how to use hair gel so will be trying that too!

Absorbine - put two coats on when feet are dry and they will shine!

Your clothing looks fine, would not change it.

cool thanks will check rules if i change anything although prob wont bother as do like my brown gear a lot.
cant do a leather girth unfort i dont think, the stubben is a life saver on the round pony. if ever someone on the yard in the same size has one i can try i will but shes very small which is annoying as i cant often borrow to try b4 buy!
will get practicing with teeth + Q marks.
Thanks all for tips!
