I'm doing a local unaf RC show on Sunday and entering Ridden Hunter and Riding Club Horse. It's individual show (no ride judging), but my dilemma is what to put in his mouth for the Ridden Hunter. He goes very well in a snaffle but I am aware that correct turnout is really a pelham or double. I tried him today in a vulcanite pelham. He went OK, but perhaps not quite as well as his snaffle (understandable).

So would it be better to be slightly incorrect in the snaffle but have him go better or put in the pelham and hope he goes OK?

I am also correct that is is better to do the Riding club horse class in a snaffle anyway?

Help really needed!! :O

Leave him in the snaffle If he is happier even at county level, judge would far rather see a happy relaxed well trained horse going kindly in a snaffle than a horse in double or pelham shaking his head and obviously unhappy in the mouth. :)

Thanks, my head is also saying snaffle, especially as this is just a 'fun' outing for us, Dressage is our usual thing but my competitive side keeps butting in!
