Boots and gaitors, its only local level, but i am in dire need of new 'proper' riding boots, I currently ride in woof yard boots, which is fine at home, but I need something for the la di da days... I always preferred a good pair of boots and gaitors but, would these be frowned upon in comparison to proper long boots... Im thinking they would... what do you think?

Personally, I would go for long boots everytime. Just so much smarter long term if you only wish to buy one thing that will last you for ages. Also, if you get a good pair of long boots, not only will they last well if you keep them just for 'best' but you won't have any problems about mismatches in colour or fading.

No, they wouldn't be frowned upon at local level. I presume you would get matching colours anyway :P I see quite a lot of people who wear these for in hand as well. As long as you have a smart appearance I don't think you can go far wrong! :)

Most of the people in the ring were wearing boots and gaitors last week- including myself as can't currently get in the long ones :o. (Oh and we won so not an issue ;) )

they are very commonly seen nowadays at all levels but people are usually so careful to match them that you would have no idea from any distance that they aren't long boots

Must match exactly really to carry it off!

I wore very dark brown boots and gaiters and they looked really smart, tbh i don't think you could really tell unless you look carefully :p the long boots i have i do wear for every day riding but they are very tight and cant do them up the last 2" - am getting there though, every week the zip goes up at least another CM :D:D:D:D:rolleyes::(:o:o
