Showing geeks - child's hat velvet colour

Super quick one! I know it doesn't matter but I am OCD and like to look the part (think all the gear and no idea)
My little two year old daughter adores riding my yard managers shetland and we are thinking of going to a local show to have a go at some little lead rein and fun classes. She's has beige Joddies and proper boots and I've purchased a second hand adorable little tweed jacket. I've always worn navy velvet hats when I've done showing so was going to wack on a navy velvet hat silk on her skull - but a fellow livery has said it's more correct for kiddiwinks to wear black? It doesn't matter either way but it got me wondering!

Her current hat cover is an adorable navy velvet with a bag faux fur baby pink Pom Pom xD
 
I have never heard of black velvet hats for children are more correct in the show ring, I would stick with navy and personally I think it looks far better than black especially on children.
 
Thankyou guys! Thank goodness! I've always worn navy although I've only ever done the odd local show ridden coloured and hunter class.
I'm the queen of navy, everything is navy from headcollars to socks so this definitely satisfies me xD
 
I would never put blue with a hacking jacket unless the tweed was blue or had a strong blue stripe through it

It is nearly always blue in the show ring, you see the odd brown or green but navy is traditional with all tweeds, black is never correct on a child or lady, it looks fine even with a greeny tweed.
 
Blue for females and children, or match the jackets velvet if it has some. Black is incorrect for girls and women.
 
Always navy on women, children can have navy, green or brown depending on tweed but the vast majority will be in navy.
