I am going to enter a showing class along with some showjumping classes with breeze on the 11th August, but i have never shown before, she has though. I would like to do what to wear, and what is to be expected in a form of your own 'show' as such. Also what is the difference between a riding horse and a ridden hunter class, also out of these two which would Breeze suit better heres a photo of us-

Own shows are showing the horses paces.

We had to do one on camp last year. In mine I included walk, rising and sitting trot, trot on a loose rein, canter on both reins, circles, nice smooth transitions and we had to do a "special" move so I did a turn on the forehand. Think you have to show some gallop but not sure.

Not a lot of diference in the classes except you are supposed to gallop in the hunter and extend in the ridden (FMM will strike me down here).

Can you not enter both?

I'm rubbish at horse types but at local level I'm sure you could go in both if you wanted to!

With regards to dress: tweed jacket with a shirt and preferably a tie but a stock would be fine (but not white with tweed though), cream/beige breeches, long boots, dark coloured hat (usually navy), gloves (pref brown). Strictly speaking in riding horse you should have a fancy browband but I'm sure at local level they won't mind too much.

Keep your show short and sweet, walk, trot and canter and gallop/extension. Some judges like to see something extra e.g. rein back but only do this if you can do it very well or if its asked for otherwise keep it simple and base it on a figure of eight. Oh and salute at the end followed by a smile!!!

Great advice thanks i'm could go for both i suppose but i'm going to be doing jumping later too and i don't want her to be too tired out!
She goes lovely in a double bridle, Shes full TB, but a chunky one! Do I have to have long boots as i don't have a pair and i don't ride so well in them...
 
I would say she could do both classes.
Individual shows should be short and sweet.

Walk for half a dozen strides, then start a trot figure of eight, complete the first part and change the rein, at the top end of the second circle start your canter, change the rein through trot to complete the first figure of eight, once you have changed rein show lengthened strides (in a straight line) in canter. Finish with a good trot sideways on to the judge (not trotting straight at her).

If you want to do something flash, then try a 3 looped serpentine in canter with a walk to canter or rein back (but only if you are able to do these perfectly). The judge would rather see a simple, perfect show, than a complicated show, badly performed.

Don't do loose rein trotting or anything like that, and don't do too much walk.

Tweed jacket, shirt and tie, hair in a bun, beige jods, brown gloves, brown cane, long black boots for the rider. Horse should be plaited and trimmed, ideally a straight cut saddle and if using a numnah, make it the same colour as the horse and very discreet. You should have a coloured browband for the riding horse class and a plain one for the hunter class.
