Hello and thankyou in advance for reading!!

Quite fancy having a go at a bit of showing with my lad. He is a lightweight Hunter. I have seen a class at Three Counties I would like to do - Amateur Lightweight Hunter class. However, I have confused myself going on the SHB(GB) website - does he just need overstamping, or a show hunter register? Do I need to be a member?

Thanks!

Think you have to fill some kind of form in.

I did a couple of county shows a few years ago with my horse and just had to fill a form in. However when I had his passport done I made sure it was with SHB(GB), as he was a hunter type - just in case I ever wanted to show him!

Check the schedule carefully, it should say on there the restrictions for that class but I think for Ridden Hunter, then yes, he will need to go onto the Show Hunter register as well as be overstamped by SHBGB. They're usually very helpful if you ring them (SHBGB).

Hi,

yes you would need to register him with SHB(GB). I was looking the same for my boy and rang them - they were very helpful.

If you want to do lots of affiliated classes you will need to register him onto the 2013 register, become a full member and get his passport overstamped.

If you are only planning to 'try' a class, you can also get temporary registration which is £20 per class (max of 2 affliated classes a season). You dont need to become a member (unless you subsequently qualify) but i understand you still need the passport over-stamped. If you do subsequently qualify and become a full member etc then they take the £20 off the cost.

Hope this makes sense and good luck!

I was debating whether to go for temporary or the full works and ended up doing the full membership as i wanted to try a few county shows this year and didnt want to be resticted to my 2 go's!
