Hello,

I will upload some pics later for advice on what to enter him in; but we are having our showing debut in a couple of weeks time and wanted a bit of advice.

Do I need spurs?

Horse is hogged. Will make sure he's trimmed neat and tidy. :)

How does it work exactly? I enter the ring and line up with others? Then (potentially) get pulled forward; walk on a few strides and stand? How do I know when to do my individual show? Also is the below OK for an individual show? I would start at the black line in he middle of the page and end up in front of judge.

We are complete novices at this but wanted to have a go :)

If we knew what class you were doing it would help as they can vary a bit.

For most you enter as a group walk, trot, canter and possibly gallop together then get pulled into line. The judge will then pull each rider out to do their individual show, the one you have is fine but I think you have it the wrong way round above, start by the judge and finish in the middle after your gallop.

If you post a photo and details of the class you will get more help if you need it, the main thing is to have fun.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll bear that in mind; thanks for the help.

I was thinking about entering one or two of these classes:

Working Horse exceeding 14.2hh
Jumps approx 2` 6"

Ridden Hunter exceeding 14.2hh

Riding Horse exceeding 14.2hh

I've swapped my phone so don't have any good pics to hand atm. Took this one quickly at the pub last night so perhaps not the best, but hopefully gives you a general idea...

Would he be suitable for any of the above? Could anyone suggest any other ideas?

He is a 15.3hh cob x (friesian possibly...). Works in an outline in all 3 paces and is an absolute sweety but can get a bit excitable - nothing nasty just a bit of calling and becoming quite forward bound; but all manageble.

I normally ride him in a pelham with 2 reins - would this be OK for above classes? I have a tweed jacket, light blue shirt and beige jods - do I wear a tie? Or a stock?

It's just a local RC show, but would like to be prepared :) I'm looking forward to it!

Show looks ok, but I'm afraid he is not a riding horse, and hunter would be pushing it as he is hogged. Is there a cob class?

Wear a tie, Pelham with 2 reins is fine as they are not novice classes. :)

Most of all, enjoy!!!

There is a cob class but it's max. 15.1hh and he looks and rides like 16hh+! Don't think we could get away with it even if we wanted too...

I'll have a look at the schedule and see if there's anything else I could suggest to you guys that we could do...

Thanks.

Would ayone suggest any of these for us?

He is hogged.

Riding Club Horse exceeding 14.2hh
Snaffle bridles only. Will be required to jump one or two small jumps
Judged on suitability as allrounder

Working Horse exceeding 14.2hh
Jumps approx 2` 6"

Ridden Hunter exceeding 14.2hh

Riding Horse exceeding 14.2hh

Best Condition
a) Not exceeding 14.2
b) Exceeding 14.2

Horse or Pony Not to have been placed 1st to 6th in any Showing Class
(Open to lead rein)

Most appealing gelding, colt or stallion

Are some of these classes in particular more populated by children? :o

hmm he doesn't look massive on the picture, have you actually measured him and taken account of his shoes? don't mean to sound patronising but some of the cobs in the classes are certainly 'very big' 15 hands.
I think he is probably a maxi cob ie over 15hh, but of the classes you have on offer try the riding club horse or the working hunter or the condition as thats not type related oh or the not to have been placed 1 to 6th class, or some or all of the above ha ha! Have fun.
Have a look at the riding horse class or hunter class and see what the standard is. if its a high standard think he will struggle in riding horse class although i was beaten the other day by a section d and my horse went foot perfect!
