Hi all

Just after a bit of showing advice for a friend. They have recently purchased a 13.2 Welsh x Arab mare for their daughter and she is hoping to show her in the Spring/Summer.

This is her:

I know she should be plaited but how would you produce her – would she be shown as a show hunter and in a bling browband, if so what colour would be best? The girl is 10 years old and has never shown before – what colour tweed etc would she have.

She is hoping to do classes such as junior novice rider, possibly family pony etc. Maybe also working hunter once she’s worked with her jumping wise.

No bling for any sort of hunter! or showing full stop. Show brow bands are usually felt or velvet sharkteeth design with rosettes on each side. She would need plain, flat tack for any hunter classes, a show browband for any riding horse classes, tweed for rider with canary or cream johds.
Ps pony is adorable :)

Sorry - didnt mean the 'everyday' bling bridles, I meant the velvet showing bridles with the diamontes on to

ahh, that makes more sense... flat bridles for hunter classes, showy ones for riding pony, leidrein pony etc
Doesnt really matter so much about colour of tweed although brown is traditional
just make sure her browband compliments her coat colour, mebbe gold and purple or something similar?

Thanks, she's in pink at the moment but I don't think it will stand out as much against her coat in the ring. Will suggest the golds, purples to them. Thanks :)

I would do Part Bred Arab classes if you want a pretty velvet ribbon browband. :)

This is a good example of turnout.

As the pony is a rather fetching buckskin, greens and blues would suit her. There is an example below with red and that looks quite nice too. :)

^ Nice colour, but it's a bit too big for the pony's head.

i show my pba in burgundy and gold, but she is a much brighter/richer colour in the summer- if your pony stays light and mealy, then i would go with green and cream.

this is my mare: she is 1/2 arab 1/4 welsh 1/4 conn. she rarely does well in the pba classes, as she is far more native in type than those she competes against! ;) and not the best pic, but the only one i have on this computer!

this is if you are going for PBA classes, which in all honesty, from the pics, i dont think she'd be best suited for, as the pba's tend to be very fine- and yours seems a bit more m&m to my eye.

if it were me, i would aim for Show hunter pony, working hunter pony, or part bred M&M classes, and stick with plain brown tack. any colour tweed would be fine- i prefer green tweed with me buckskins, and blue hat- keep gloves and canes brown and plain.

eta: if showing as a pba, then turn out in navy showing jacket, rather than tweed
