Looking for some help and advice on the correct turnout for me and my horse. I have just entered us into our first show, we are doing the condition and turnout class as I'm a complete showing novice and I've no idea how she will behave at a show, although I think she has showed in the past.

I've no idea where to begin with this showing stuff, but was offered a lift and thought why not? Now I'm beginning to get a bit nervous about it all! I'm not looking to win really just go out and have some fun and see how she behaves at a show.

She is a 15.2 ISH chestnut mare so any help on how to turn her out and what I should wear would be grately appreciated.

Thanks X

She needs to be spotlessly clean, very well groomed and with with clean tack for a start. Feet need to be in good condition too.

And need to be have her mane plaited and tail either pulled (preferable) or plaited.

Tweed jacket is acceptable for most classes

Are you doing a ridden class or in-hand?

Just aim to have a good time and you won't be disapointed...best of luck

Thank you Gingercat,

Its a ridden class I'm doing! I'm gonna need to practise my plaiting skills!!

I have a black show jacket would that be acceptable? Or will I need to get a tweed jacket?

Thanks

If you are doing the turnout class your black jacket should be ok.
A shirt and tie/hair in net
Gloves,brown if poss. show cane.
Cream jods/long boots or brown jod boots.
Horse should be very tidy /well trimmed /plaited.
If you can do quarter marks they look very smart.
A little baby oil round the muzzle and hoof oil for the finishing touch.
Good luck.

Thanks be positive,

I will practise my quarter marks too! And make sure she is extremley tidy/trimmed and plaited up.
Thank you x
