Mine is clipped in winter, but she's stabled at night and ridden 5/6 days a week. In the winter it is acceptable to show a clipped horse I believe so long as they look smart.

I tend to do a blanket first clip, and then full the second clip, but may go straight for a full clip this year as we're doing more. If she was living out then I wouldn't do a full clip.

Last year I fully clipped my welshie's body but left his legs (to keep feathers) and his head (cos I can't clip that without sedation!)

If you are doing high level showing it probably isn't acceptable, but I couldn't survive the winter with a sweaty hairy horse! Rugs are much easier to manage when you have limited time.

It should be acceptable in winter - we've never been told off for showing our Fell clipped.

We gave her a full clip, leaving just the legs and up to the jawline - leaving the beard and the feather important to fell breed characteristics

Its fine to clip them...everything at HOYs and Olympia thats shown under saddle will either be clipped or rugged up to the eye balls! I know which I would rather do!
