Could you help me with my list of essential things I need to show a non-native coloured that is far too white

I have always found that the best thing to get a horse white is fairy liquid, or non-biological soap powder.

I would sew the plaits in if I were you, so you will need thread and needles (I tend to buy a pack of embroidery needles rather than silly little sewing needles).

What showing class are you doing, and is it the horse in your sig? If so I think he would look fantastic in a hunter bridle.

Check out 'supreme products' for their showing products - they are pricey but definately worth it. Their hoof oil is amazing!

As for show shine, I would buy some baby oil and rub this on with a cloth. I normally use baby oil on the eyelids, and then vaseline under the eyes and around the muzzle. Make sure the ears are trimmed as well, as smart ears can really make the head stand out.

Rather than buy expensive show sparkle spray, go to Tesco and buy a few cans of Mr Sheen polish - it does exactly the same job, and also works on detangling manes and tails. It costs about £1 compared to the 'proper' showing stuff that costs near £10.

Agree with Zoeshiloh, fairy liquid is great for getting out stains on greys/white tails and feathers, i've always got some. I never use the named products, and bath in Johoba (cant spell) shampoo from tescos. I use head and shoulders on mane and baby no tears on faces! A small amount of baby oil on a cloth to wipe around the nose and eyes, don over do it or it picks up all the dirt

To get your feet clean, I use vim and a scourer to remove the grease and black marks! I had a good teacher, my old YO who showed his cobs at the Royal Welsh and always won!

The only named products I buy are, show sheen and effol

Supreme makeup is great - I have three shades of brown, and the black, just for my bay mare, lol! Its great for highlighting or hiding things.

I think your mare would suit a hunter bridle, but it is difficult to say without seeing one on. I think if she has a long face, an ordinary snaffle noseband would look too unsubstantial on her, and perhaps make her face look even longer. I wouldn't go overboard with a hunter noseband - no bigger than an inch, and perhaps more like 6/8ths would be good. Also, you don't want the noseband to be as low as it would if you were riding - it was to 'halve' the face, so mine normally sit just below the cheek bones.
 
A flask of hot water. As handy to add to a bucket of cold water to make washing those pesky stains they pick op in the lorry/trailer easier.

Wet wipes - great for hands and face (I always end up filthy!) but also great for wiping horse with.

First aid kit - human and equine.

Hairspray - helps hold plaits in and I also spray it though the tail to make it look thicker.
 
I realy would not use mr sheen on your horse, the silicone in it will make hair brittle and bleach easier. so you can end up with a very thin tail and bleached out coat.

I've been using it for at least ten years, and have never had any problems with brittle hair, bleached coats etc...
