Hi,
I'm hoping to do a proper show season with my share horse this summer but have never been to anything but fun shows before so am totally clueless!

He's a 16 year old TB, and I'm hoping to do some novice jumping, walk/trot dressage and some ridden showing classes.

Which showing classes would you suggest I enter?

And what should I wear!? I don't have a lot of spare money to buy loads of new stuff but want to make sure I look the part as best I can, without having to buy loads of stuff for each class!

I have a navy show jacket already - would this be suitable for jumping/dressage/showing classes?

What colour hat would do for all 3?

Should I get a shirt & tie, or a stock shirt? Which colour?

I have beige jods already.

What colour gloves?

And finally, I know I need to wear long black boots, which I don't currently have. Will rubber ones be ok, or wWill I need leather?

Any other hints/advise welcomed!

Sorry.. This seems to have turned into a rather long post! :o

What classes depends on the type of T.B he is i.e hunter/riding horse, but have you thought about veteran classes, also has he raced = racehorse to riding horse could be an option. at local level blue jacket would prob be ok and blue hat with brown gloves, could you get black short boots with black leather chaps this is a cheaper option and looks smarter than rubber, you will need a shirt and tie not a stock, colour of shirt/ is personal choice but go to a large show to observe and see what others are wearing. hope this helps have fun

He's never raced, and not sure he looks much like a hunter type. So I guess that leaves the riding horse classes! Hadn't thought about veteran classes, but that is a good idea, thanks!

I did have a little look at gaiters but they all seemed to be nearly expensive as leather boots!
