Hey guys could you please give me some opinions on how this sounds???

I have entered my new mare Eowyn into a local agri show in small riding horse.

This is her

So having been told by showing people that she would be best in Small riding horse I have entered he in it. This will be her first outing so I will not be buying a whole outfit for her and it will be black tack for the moment until I find out hows she copes with outings. If she shows promise then I will splurge on all the lovely goodies for her.

Now she goes well in a snaffle but should I maybe go out and buy a pelham for her and school her for the next two weeks in it just to be bit correct???

Now MY turnout will be this

No I know it should be green tweed etc but splurging on all the gear when I dont know what she will be like seems pointless at the moment.

Will we bothe be smart enough looking??? Do people agree that she is a small riding horse???

Also I wanted to have a bash at working hunter with her what do people think???

she's very nice!

How big is she - I would've said she was more of a Small Hunter than a Small Riding horse but they must not exceed 15.2

Have a go at the WH -she's a nice stamp!

im going to disagree with your friends, I actually think she is more of a LW hunter :) and your turnout would be better suited to it as well :) (and small hunter if she is under 15.2) you would need a double bridle for hunter classes as well, but can use a rugby phelhem :)

A riding horse class needs a coloured browband, and preferably a double bridle (can use a rugby pehlem) for it as well :)

and defo have a go in the workers :D

I agree that she looks more of a hunter type - small hunter, if under 15.2 and, of course, working hunter if she is OK with a round of jumps, including maybe a skinny/narrow one.
A rugby pelham would be more correct but if she goes well in a snaffle and is a novice, you may be best to stick with that for the time being, although most horses are fine with a pelham. I certainly wouldn't switch to a double just before a show.
A snaffle is always fine for young horse and novice classes in any case.
For your own outfit, I couldn't see from the photo what was round your neck! For showing you should be in a collar and tie, to suit your tweed jacket and not a stock, except in evening and championship classes And make sure your hair is in a neat bun if possible and certainly in a hairnet,
Finally, if the judge is riding, make sure your stirrup irons are big enough for any rider! Good luck

Thanks guys!!

I have a shirt and tie on in the pics. I have a sparklie browband but its my other horses and is black and silver (his colours) so i dont think it will suit a dark bay with mealy points???

She is 15.2hh and has a pop on her but will have to have a go with a skinny as never thought of that. She l;ooks bigger as I am a tiny person at only 5ft lol ;)

I am a novice to riding horse and havent taken her to a show so would we get away with saying novice riding horse???
