Standing out is generally undesirable in showing unfortunately.
This x1000!

If you’re competing in hand, trousers and sensible shoes are preferable to breeches and boots. I’d wear brown leather gloves if you have them.

From your picture, your hair looks a little low; try and get the bun to sit as close to your head as possible and secure well. Adults don’t need any hair accessories, just a hairnet to look discreet and tidy.

If you have one I might choose a cream/light blue shirt for the canary, but that’s being picky. Usually the bright canary colour is only seen in the children’s classes. Equally as is the velvet trim on the jacket; but again that’s being incredibly picky and probably not worth going shopping for. A funky tie pin is as unique as you can go in showing really!

I disagree with the comments about not standing out - how else will the judge remember your bay horse over the other (potentially) 15 bay horses in the ring?

A very successful producer locally wears yellow trousers to be identified against other competitors. I wore pink trouser to show my bay welsh cob at the Royal Welsh Show last year. Standing out is important and if your horse isn't an unusual colour or likely to stand out on it's own merit, your outfit can help you and your horse stick in the judges mind - hopefully for the right reasons. I'm not suggesting neon or ridiculously bright colours.

If you feel you need to wear a hard hat I'd go with a blue velvet with natural coloured straps. (or a Patey if you prefer no straps)

Light coloured trousers (opposite to colour of horses legs so not to clash and judge can clearly see horses movement) with flat shoes. Think along the lines of deck shoes, but something you can run comfortably in. Might have to practice a bit running your horse up at the right pace.

Tweed jacket - this is where you can go funky. Have a look at the jackets here http://www.lebeaucheval.co.uk/products/productDetails.aspx?productCode=ladi-ch-tw-jack I love the patterns with the checks through them. You can often pick up last seasons patterns slightly cheaper and often second hand come up at a fraction of the price. There are a few companies making different patterns of tweed jackets now.

Once you've chosen your jacket you can get shirt and tie to match.

A button hole can also help you stand out a little more. My dad and I always had a red carnation in our buttonholes - this was the 80/90's and you can now buy really lovely pins. You can often get matching hair accessories which match your button hole. I wear a pink scrunchy which matches my trousers (when i wear them) my tie and the check in my tweed. I wear my hair in a bun, but no hat (personal choice as I get very warm).

A tie pin is optional and once your jacket is on it's usually not seen, but can help your tie look a little fuller.

this is my jacket…it stands out and is a bit different, but not “in your face”! bespoke tweed by pretty ponies, they’re not far from me so i went and spent a ridiculous amount of time looking through all their tweeds😂

I like the shires show shirts for a pale yellow, i have a sleeveless one but they also do short sleeve and long sleeve. My tie is a bit different too, it’s a WCPS one but in sage green, never seen anyone else with the same one!

Pick colours that compliment the horse - had i bought this jacket for diva i wouldn’t have gone for the colour, i bought it to go against lily who is a bright bay and i don’t feel it stands out against diva as much, but it cost far too much to get a new one😂

Hat wise navy with a flesh strap, or a beagler. I’d possibly go for brown boots too.

if you’re only showing in hand i’d def opt for a waistcoat and long sleeve shirt, nobody needs to sweat in a heavy tweed unless absolutely necessary!🤣

ETA: if horse is over 4, bridle with reins over the head is more correct than a leather lead, but i appreciate you might prefer a leather lead with chain for a bit more control!
