No, I am not showing a person, just my yearling filly.

Anyway, I need some tips on making her stand square if anyone has any? I just can't seem to make it happen. Even if I move her legs she moves them back

I would trot...then stop mine. If they stood square or with back leg out as in a sec d stance, they would get a polo. Then off again...trot stop...trot stop...you get the picture!!! lol
It can take a while though!
good luck

She doesn't need to stand square - just well.

As long as she is more or less square in front, then it's ok for whichever back leg the jugde is on the side of to be back.

Think we have a long way to go

unless its a trait of the breed..ie welshie Ds stand like a rocking horse..you aren't required to stand square..

the judge likes to see all 4 legs so if they are standing "well" that is suffient.

I was always told that the front legs need to be square but the outside back leg from which side the judge is on should be further back...(if that makes sense?!) so I move mine backwards until she stands up like this (well try)

Yes, she's clearly just waving hello to the judge with the front ones

As long as the front legs are fairly square I wouldn't worry about the back, especially in a youngster, and the judge would rather see all four anyway.

What class are you showing her in? Generally for sports horse youngsters they would be in the open stand with the front leg on the judges side more in front and the hind leg on the judges side further back. Though front can be almost square. This should be changed when judge moves to the other side and especially important is to square her up behind when the judge is at the rear.

Don't try and push her back into the stand but rather walk forward a step if you need to adjust. As you are coming to the spot where you need to stand slow down and begin taking up your stance in front of her and as you'll be looking at her it is not too difficult to judge when to stop to get a quick professional stand all being well!

Good luck.
