I am going to do a M&M class at a local show. I have a black saddle and black snaffle bridle or I can piece together a brown snaffle bridle or put a rugby pelham on the brown bridle. He is not a young horse but probably goes better in the snaffle. What would you do? Also with the black saddle (and bay horse) would you put a black numnah, brown numnah, or no numnah?
Thank you. Sorry so many questions.

although you are meant to have brown tack i would use the black bridle so you are matching. if he goes best in the snaffle then i would use that

preferably no numnah, but if you would rather use one, use the black. good luck

All tack for showing 'should' be brown but you can't expect to go and buy new tack just because of this and sometimes black suits some horses better than brown so I wouldnt worry too much about that.

Saddle and bridle however do need to match, so no I would not piece to together some random peices of different bridle when you have a black saddle.

Use the bit which your pony goes best in, no point swopping last minute just for sake of looking more like pro in double because it won't get you any more marks if you pony is not used to that bit, school at home it in if you want to use it for future showing.

Numnah needs to be the same colour as your saddle and a got cut, so very discrete, brown will only draw attention to it unless it can't be seen. I would always used a numnah, it helps to soak up any sweat and will prevent your saddle from slipping etc

Good Luck and have fun.

As its a local show, stick with your normal tack as your horse will go better in what he's comfortable in. Once your a bit more confident in how the classes are worked and depending on how ned does, then you can invest in different tack if you want to, as stated before, brown is favoured in showing, but not necessary at local level.

Just go and enjoy it, also, going along to county shows to watch will give you a good idea of how to dress and how people do there individual show, most judges prefer short and sweet and will normally tell you what to do.

Good luck and have fun

Snaffle will be fine, remove flash - a hunter cavesson would be best. At local level I would not worry too much about the colour of tack, just make sure everything clean and neat - attention to detail, hair in net, tie done up properly, gloves on are so often overlooked and do make a difference to the overall picture, but remember ultimately it is how the horse goes for you.

Most importantly go and enjoy and have fun!
