Question on my mothers behalf
wink.gif

My awesome ickle Welsh Sec. A comes home on saturday, and my mother would love to know if she (or I, I can see who'll be expected to do the running!) can show him in-hand.
Could see that being rather fun anyway as he can be a hell of a handful at times! xP

He's passported, obviously, but not registered with a breed society or anything like that... though he's clearly full Sec. A, we have no idea of his breeding or anything...
Think she only wants to do something like the in-hand M&M or Welsh Sec A & B class at a few shows, see how he does (a few people have told us we ought to show him so he cant be that bad!)
Would this be ok? Or is there anything we really need to know?

Also, he doesn't have a 'show name', am I really going to have to risk the embarrassment of having them call out 'Dimples'?! xD

Any help much appreciated,
Sol.

You will be able to do unaffiliated 'local shows' nothing serious as such- how about fun classes such a cutest pony etc etc. is he not rideable? He could do leadrein classes?

As long as he actually has a passport i dont see anything wrong with it. But if you want to do serious showing, lk qualifiers in section A classes u will probz need to register with breed society.

depends what sort of showing you want to do if u want to take him to affliated showing classess or county shows he would need to be registered with a breed scoicety =]

He will need to be registered with the WPCS if you want to do affliated classes .....But for local shows I am sure you and your mum can have some fun

For affiliated M&M he needs to be registered with his breed society. For local showing he could usually do M&M classes without being registered. If he is really welshie is it worth tracing old owners and seeing if he has papers in his past somewhere?

Thanks all

Anyone know if you can register without papers? O.o

We've actually met & spoke to his first owner (after breeder) - her father bought her the pony for her children, and as far as I'm aware he came from a sales, she never mentioned that she had his papers or anything of his breeding and I wouldn't know where to find her now! We just happened to mention his name at the riding school one day and Dimples isn't exactly a common name! She overheard, brought some photos down and it was exactly the same pony

He's 16 now anyway and has always been pretty much just a pet... would say 'happy hacker' but he's so spooky that the 'happy' part isn't quite fitting! Might try and get him to a few fun classes and see what he makes of it anyway

At local level there will be plenty of classes to show him in, most m&m classes are for registerd or unregistered ponies. he would however have to be registered to show at any higher level than that.

Unfortunately you would need him dna typed and both sets of parents registered with the wpcs .

If the pony is 16 now ....Would there even be a possiblilty of the pony's parents still living ? .

If you don't know the name of the sire or dam then you have come to the end .

Go out and have some fun and post piccies of your show

Have fun x
