Showing Q - what colour??

I have just acquired a brown tweed jacket...what colour shirt and tie should I wear with it?

And I only have either a navy blue or black cover for my hat, which one of those do I use? (am not even sure the black one will fit

)

oh...one more question

if i wear normal trousers and boots with the jacket for in-hand showing (as in not jods) do I still wear my hat? (I would prefer to wear it but will I look silly?!)

I normally show in hand with black trousers and I still wear my hat. Some people do and some don't but you shouldn't look silly, and tbh if you'd prefer to wear it then it's better to look a tad silly than feel uncomfortable.

with a brown tweed, most colours would look fine - generally people tend to go for cream/yellow or blue shirts with a contrasting tie. For showing I would wear a blue hat. Would wear a hat for in hand as well - if you have a beagler, or something without a harness that would be better

Navy cover for the hat. Shirt and tie is a matter for personal preference, but a lot of people seem to favour cream/pale yellow/pale blue for the shirt and red ties seem to be very popular!

Just to add, if wearing trousers for in-hand make sure they contrast with your horses legs then the judge can see your horse move.

For example black horse legs = cream/beige trousers.

so if I wear the following will it look OK?

In-hand:
Brown tweed jacket, pale blue shirt, blue/gold tie, cream trousers, brown chunky boots, blue navy velvet riding hat, brown gloves.

Ridden:
Brown tweed jacket, pale blue shirt, blue/gold tie, cream jods, black long boots (rubber, can't afford to buy some leather ones *sob*), blue navy velvet riding hat, brown gloves.

have been to quite a few shows this summer but for some reason am really nervous about this next one
