Bruce has gone out showing now twice, and on his second time out at quite a big show he won and qualified for a championships in September

Now he has done this with the girl that has been riding him whilst I have been away.

I would really like to go and continue this showing lark as he is clearly quite good at it, however I would like the girl doing it to carry on as I would NEVER have thought of showing him

as to me he looks like a giraffe!

To get to my question, if he is good at riding horse, what other classes could I do at local level - my thoughts are that we could go out and do one each? And what gear do I need?

BTW he jumps well, if that helps.

ETS: He is Bay, nearly 18hh and quite narrow. He is not a chunky monkey!

You dont say what size and build her is, or breed?

If he is a riding horse type, you could possible also consider some Performance classes? Also, riding club horse (which requires 1 or 2 fences to be jumped). If he is big and rangy you could possible do lightweight hunter at local level?

Ridden hunters are ridden, stripped and shown in hand and then ridden by the judge. You wear hacking jacket, shirt and tie.
 
for light weight hunters you need a green or brown tweed, navy beagler or hat with flash harness, shirt and tie to compliment jacket, brown gloves, brown cane, canary/beigey jods, long black boots, spurs or dummy spurs. Your hair should be up in a bun.

Horsey should have a plain hunter bridle with either a double or pelham (preferably in havannah), straight cut sadde (again brown/havana preferably). If you must use a numnah then it should be very discreate and not show much if at all outside of your saddle
 
Personally I think he is a Ridden Horse, which is the same as Hunter only with a lovely browband. Will need to be ridden in a double, pelham or Rugby.

Which show have you qualified for?
 
Hi SSM - he has qualified for the balanced horse feeds championships in September...only local level but exciting none the less.

I just want to give it a go now, so we can do something together..two classes and one each. Maybe I could give lightweight hunter a go...

What do they have to look like for riding club horse? Could he do that?
 
Definatley could do Riding Club Horse - he could do anything you want really. He's just such a super sort.
 
He is beautiful - large riding horse/LW ridden hunter, working hunter, riding club horse - for hunter - plain tack and tweed, riding horse - fancy browband and tweed or navy jacket.

Sure you will be at the right end of the line with him.
 
Personally I don't think he is chunky enough to be a hunter, but perfect for Ridden horse.
They want to see that he has nice manners, paces etc.

Well maybe I will just shove him in a lw hunter?

And will he be to big for riding club horse, and what bit will he need?
 
personaly i think he would be better in the LW class, as he would look huge in the riding horse classes, i know there is no hight limit on them but they dont tend to be much over 16.2hh.

Rc horses, bit depends on the show but normaly a snaffle is specified. I dont think he would be too big, i dont think there is a height limit
