Anyone who shows - I'm mainly thinking of cobs and hunters here. Are solid colours preferred? I know coloureds can enter, but I have it in the back of my mind from somewhere (probably a breed standard or something). My friend is looking at a youngster which is a bay/roany colour but wondering whether this is a no-go for county level and the like. I hope someone knows - very random question.

Coloured are more accepted now. Doesnt really make too much difference. You have also got coloured classes though as a bonus!

A coloured cob, So Smart, won the top title at HOYS year before last so I suppose they are becoming more acceptable! You can enter coloured classes and hunter/cob classes if you get one but a roan doesn't count as coloured. Coloureds are very fashionable at the moment (they're the best but I'm biased!) so I wouldn't be surprised if roans/duns start becoming fashionable too.

Cobs can be pretty much any colour - coloureds have done well. Have seen roan, dun and even palomino. Nice to have something that stands out from the bays and greys.
Our heavyweight cob was chesnut with a flaxen (hogged) mane and very blonde tail - once seen never forgotten
There used to be a strawberry roan cob a few years back that won virtually every worker class going; anyone remember what it was called?
Coloured (pie/skewbald) hunters are less common above local level but I think a coloured qualified for HOYS last year.
Roan would't be a problem as long as the horse was of the right quality - Noble Clover was fairly roan as a youngster!
