This week I've been horse shopping with YO and we've (she's

) bought a coloured Irish coblet (blue and white). My mum would quite like to show him in hand. Only thing is we've just pulled his mane into a really neat, but, short do. He also doesn't have long down to the ground feathers. So my question is for a little local outing, with the main aim being mum enjoying herself, would this be ok? Or would he have to be in full feather and long mane? I just don't want her to be laughed out of the ring

Thanks in advance.

Do not worry i am thinking you are looking to compete in the coloured class. This is not just for the hairys its more to judge the colour, conformation and type. regardless as to how long the horses mane is.
Go out and i hope you all have fun.
Good luck.

Hi, id he's a light weight cob then you could hog him or plait him and take his feathers off, but this is too much work for a local show, so id leave his mane as it is and show him in his current natrual state, cobs dont have to have loads of feathers you can have a lovely long flowing mane with only a tiny bit of feather like a welsh.
