Hi all.

There's a fun showing show on at a local show centre next month and I figured I could take my old boy to get him out and about.
I'm doing the in-hand veteran class with him but was wondering what else we could do. The only problem is that it has to be in-hand with J.

This is Jerry. He's a 16.1 Dutch Warmblood but rather chunky.

I'll also be taking Timbi as a travel buddy so I was thinking of maybe entering him as well. He's also a Dutch Warmblood but finer than Jerry.

Not the best picture of him, unfortunately.
They have in-hand hunter, sporthorse and riding horse/hack classes. :)

Any help much appreciated.

I would do the in hand hunter with the chestnut, the riding horse with the bay, and both of them for the sportshorse if you have someone else to lead the spare one!

great, thank you. I'm sure I can persuade someone to come along. ;)

Sorry not much use, but they are both gorgeous and more importantly... Where did you get Timbi's headcollar from??? I love it!:D

Thank you. I think it's cottage craft. :)

I'm back again :o

I've taken the plunge and entered them in the Grand Slam next month.
Jerry is doing the hunter and sports classes and Timberland is doing the riding horse and sport classes.

I just wanted to make sure I've got turnout etc right so please feel free to correct any mistakes. :)

Jerry (chestnut) should have mane and tail plaited for both classes. I would rather not pull his lovely tail. :o
I have a hunter bridle with a snaffle for the hunter class. Can I use the same for the sportshorse class?

Timberland (bay) should also have mane and tail plaited for both classes.
He has a plain cavesson bridle with (plastic-coated) snaffle. Should he have a pretty browband for the riding horse class? :p

Both of them will have whiskers and fetlocks trimmed and I'm going to practice sewing in my plaits over the next two weeks.
Also, I can wear my tweed in the sports class, can't I? I'm getting conflicting advice about wearing white.

Cadburys Dream chocolate bar on offer :)

ETA: I'm planning to wear my tweed jacket, cream breeches and black boots. I have a yellow shirt and red tie. My helper is going to wear a coloured shirt and a tie with cream jodhs and black boots.
Am I supposed to wear a hat in the ring if it's in-hand?

Horse turnout sounds fine, a velvet browband for the RH class is correct.

I would stick with the tweed for all classes but a pair of cream trousers rather than breeches and boots would be better and much more comfy for you with all that running you need to do. You should wear a hat in the ring.
