My very first show...
It was a local riding club and I entered Ridden Horse. Usually this was for Riding Horses, Hacks and Hunters but it didn't restrict so in we took the Clydesdale.
We did the go round and then the lady in the line up next to me said, very loudly, to the steward, "This is not acceptable! When THAT goes my horse is going to freak out." And she rode out of the class because there was a Clydesdale entered!!!! I did my show but horse slipped on a turn in canter and I fell off. I had no idea about the rules so I asked the steward for a leg up and finished my show. I placed 4th out of 4 still in the ring, anyone would have placed above me if they'd just been in the class.
Then to top it off about a month later I saw the photographers shots of me from the show here on HHO in a stolen horse thread - it was a recently stolen clydesdale mare in our region. His sheath was obviously visible in the pictures and he was MUCH taller than the missing mare. It took me several weeks to get my photos taken down.

That’s shocking about the lady leaving the class! Luckily the only comments I ever had about my Clyde at open shows were all nice - lots of kids asked if they could pet him or take photos, and one enterprising little one with a tiny Shetland asked if we’d do dissimilar pairs pairs with her in the fun ring! Which we did and we won.

He used to go in all sorts of non heavy horse classes.

I took my old lad in an inhand class. I can't remember what is was but it was all colts, stallions and geldings. My lad is 17.1. We had do our trot up abd were now called into line. There had been a stallion messing about the whole time. We lined up and I heard some ruckus. The stallion had got free and had made a bee line for my boy. It mounted him!! The inner came and dragged it off. I thought she would be sent out but wasn't. It wasn't until I got out the ring and checked my boy over that u found bald patches on either side of him from the stallions hooves!!
