Showing this weekend...Your grooming tips, ringcraft tips?

Apart from elbow grease

I love Licoln Total Groom spray, brings the coat up lovely, spray on a week before a show, brush into the coat, cover with a summersheet/fleece or something you don't mind having to wash the next day and do again a few days later, all the dirt lifts into the rug, leaving a gleaming clean coat, don't apply to saddle/girth area though.

Sew in your plaits (looks WAY neater!)

Any white bits must be GLEEMING!

All tack, clothing, etc must be spotless and newly polished etc

If you can do sharksteeth/quarter marks if they are applicable to your horses class then do them, they make you look more professional!

Tail plait should be perfectly straight and neat (trim the bottom of the tail the day before) and if not plaited make sure it is pulled and neat and tail bandaged, prob on the way to the show, to make sure it all lies down neatly.

Erm.............. and take dry shampoo spray to the show with you for any white bits that might become less white!

Plaited tails are very old fashioned and rarely seen at higher levels so pulled would look more professional.

In the hunter class the most important part of the individual is a good gallop but it has to be controlled. As well a hunter should be mannerly and cover the ground without wasting energy so no extended trot or fancy footwork but a good gallop is key.

If your horse has even little bits of white make sure you use plenty of chalk, before you put hoof oil on.

Give yourself plenty of space, don't cut round people, its my pet hate.

I use baby oil and hot water mixed together, best if in a bottle to give a really good shine to the coat.

i agree about a good controlled gallop (also can look good in individual show for open ridden)

Make sure your tack is plain, workman like tack for hunter class!!

Eye make up, baby oil around the muzzle and brush brush brush, also take some baby wipes with you just to wipe your tack down at the last minute before you go into the ring .
