I have been working a welsh x newforest, she looks more welsh though.
She is 22 (getting old bless her) but dont act it at all she is very healthy. Only been working her 2-3weeks but there is a small fun day show at my yard first week of july would really like to show her inhand.

I go into shows wanting to win and im so disappointed if i dont ( i no i shouldnt lol) but is there anything i should e.g. what i should wear, plaiting etc that may boost my chances of winning lol. i no what i have to wear but i mean colours eg.
 
I s'pose as shes a native she would be unplaited. I think if she has white legs, you should wear dark trousers, and vice versa.

I asked some questions about showing in hand in CR recently and a lady kindly gave me some advice (my horse is an arab so I won't include the horsey bits!)

I agree with the above about the trousers, pair that with a white shirt, a tie, jacked and johd boots - don't forget your hat,hairnet and gloves!
 
As she is a X she is not classed as a native so she will need to be plaited. Good Luck hope you have fun and let us know how you get on. :D
 
Don't plait a native...don't use a blingy browband unless you are showing her as a riding pony (in which case she will need to be plaited)...if you are plaiting make sure you have the correct number of plaits...tweed jacket is good...navy jacket not good...black jacket bad :D
 
At her age, veterans would probably be the best class for her.

As she it is a local show you may get away with showing her as a native, particularly if their m&m class is not specifically for registereds only. You can check this on the schedule.

You will probably have a better chance, however, if you show her as a hunter pony as she won't be a brilliant welsh or new forest being a crossbred. In which class plait her mane, pull her tail, trim off all feathers to give her neat legs, excess hair around the jaw and ears. Show her in a plain hunter bridle - double bits, a pelham with two reins or a plain snaffle. If you decide to do the m&m route then unplaited and untrimmed, with the same bridle.

The actual colour of your outfit isn't overly important. Just avoid any black, and don't go for a navy blue jacket/waistcoat. Those look a bit show pony, which she's not.

Other than that, practise your inhand performance. Nothing will knock your chances more than if your pony refuses to walk, trot and stand up on command.

Thanks for you help guys, im a little confused now though some of you say plait some say you dont, and oh i only have a black jacket!
Seeing as she is not mine and i dont pay nothing for her as im only working her 2-3 days a week i cant go out and buy double bridle, bits etc.

If i do plait, she has a thick mane that is frizzy lol, i plaited her yesterday using a running plait she looked really nice would a plait like that be ok? she does have two white legs the back left and the front right. I will get a photo of her today so you can all see and ill try get a schedule and pick which ones i will do
 
Either normal plaits or no plaits, a running plait will look out of place. If you feel that she will look better turned out unplaited as an m&m, then go with your gut instinct :)
 
My gut just thinks 'what will the judge like' or 'what is aloud'

i might just what they do with welsh ponies, plait her mane into long plaits leave while wet/damp and then take them out on the day see if it helps with her fizzy ness lol if not i may just leave it

Show her as a native. Don't plait her mane while wet - I show welsh ponies and don't do that! Cowboy magic is good or a bit of baby oil rubbed between your hands and stroked over mane while damp.

Are you riding or in hand?

beige trousers/cords or jod if you don't have anything else (jods if riding obv.)
If you wear short boots they should be brown, long boots black. Cream/lemon/pale blue shirt and a coloured tie.
Hat - pref navy velvet or skull cap with navy cover.
Brown gloves
Brown cane.

Plain brown bridle - no jazzy brow band or buckles.

Good luck - def. do the veteran class if the have one!
 
I dont have navy hat silk at all only black?

She has a black bridle, i cant go out and buy new things for her, all i got is white jods, a white shirt black tie and jacket
