To really make your horse sparkle and make tack gleam? I used that Scuff-Kote stuff on my boots and wow it works wonders, is it ok to use brown scuff kote on my bridle though? And how about baby oil around the eyes, is that something you'd recommend, if so how would you go about it? All tips and advice really appreciated!

Would`nt use scuff coat on tack - what if it rains

I`m also not a fan or baby oil as it can draw out dust and make them look grubby. For tack i use Patent Shine just before going into the ring (makes it really shiney) and for around eyes and muzzle i use Alva Shadow on natives or Supreme Black gloss for show/hunter ponies. If you need anymore info you can pm me questions

I was thinking about this today. I worked for a show producer years ago and we had to put baby oil on at shows. I don't as I think it is too OTT. Anyway I was thinking does it not burn the skin, in sunny weather?

said in one of this months magazines about baby oil burning skin in hot weather so isnt adviseable to use...I use a supreme product, coat gloss i think and wipe it over the coat just before entering looks fab

If you do put anything around the eyes etc use it very spareingly lol

I dont use baby oil there are much better things you can get nowdays which have sunscreen in and so on, buy a product made for the job, there are quite a few now and use sparingly

Gold label do something which works wonders on leather. It brings up a good shine and makes tatty tack look good as new.

For face and body i think absorbine show sheen it great. baby oil is okay in the mane and tail, but on the face it tends to bring out the dirt. Cowboy magic shampoos are supposed to be good on greys.

Good point IrishCobs, baby oil tends to be used more for evening performances though, I see it used more often then.

Make sure you don't put any coat gloss/shine where the saddle goes otherwise you could be in for a nasty surprise!
On The Show Ring, we are testing products for a range of manufacturers at the moment, so once we have some feedback, I will post the link so you can see which ones we found to be best.
