I have a coloured cob gelding that I want to show a bit more this year. Does anyone have any "whitening" tips? I already wash his tail in very diluted Daz. He seems to end up getting stained hocks and knees the morning after-any ideas anyone?!
Thanks

If you put it on the night before when his hock/knees are wet, just rub it in against the hair and leave overnight (I also put stable bandages on); then brush off the excess in the morning and ther you have it;

Equimins whitener paste is good on hocks.

I wash first with tresume - and if very bad stains use a little fairy liquid.

Then coat the stains with the whitener. You can also top up in the morning.

I also use a little in the final rinse on Chancer's white patches and mix it with the grannie soapflakes I use on his feather to have him brighter than bright.

I also use hock boots night before if he is in the stable and when travelling to keep the hocks clean.

That's great!!! Thanks for all that. I knew there was a paste about, I'll give that and the talc and the chalk a bash!!! LOL he won't know what's hit him!
What do you reckon on leaving a tail bandage on all night? I used to this for years the previous night before a show, but I've recently been told this isn't good for them. None of my horses have ever had anything wrong the next day in the past when I've done this?

Don't risk leaving a tail bandage on overnight. I have seen a horse that lost part of its tail (not just the hair, the actual tail) from doing that. I am sure 999 times out of 1000 that there is no problem, but it is not worth taking the risk.
