So we toddled off in the Rain to East Kilbride Open Show today. Despite the decidedly soggy weather the wee guy did me proud.

Stood on the trailer like a star and when allowed out to stand he just munched his haynet and watched the very busy world go by :)

We had entered Inhand M&M Large breed and Inhand Youngstock :)

The M&M class was a class of six and he was the youngest by a good few years. Judge loved him, plenty of compliments from her and fellow competitors. Pulled second and stayed there after individual :)

Hung around for that section championship but lots of strong mature ponies and he’s very immature and keeps taking stretches so isn’t as well covered as is liked. Very happy with his manners and behaviour :)

Waited for Inhand Youngstock. Good class of three. Pulled first and stayed there. Totally over the moon, he gave a lovely trot out and stood up great for the judge. This is the bit we struggle with as he can’t stay at piece when removed from the line up. We are working on it.

Again waited for the championship and an even stronger class with some quality ponies and young riders. So again got nothing but so so so chuffed as despite the long day, on and off the trailer and the torrential rain he behaved impeccably and lots of people were approaching me to compliment him :)

We also won a trophy as well so the judge must have really liked him :)

A very soggy but wonderful day :)

Love the picture of you two together - your smile says it all! Sounds like he was very grown-up about it all

Thank you! I was very chuffed with him he was putting older ponies to shame with his manners :)

A few more shows until October then he will get a long break until Feb time just going little walking trips and having the winter being handled and short desensitising sessions :)

well done, a well mannered youngster is fabulous and makes life so much easier!

If I can make a suggestion? If you can I would Trim his jaw line (beard). Welshies should have their beard (not whiskers) taken off and it makes their head look a lot more refined which is a good thing for all welshies!

That is being worked on lol ;), he is fine with the clippers on his body but is face is a work in progress :) I have a little pair of very quiet ones but I think it’s the vibrations so we are working on it :)
